Holy mackerel! The first place Cubs beat the Guardians 1-0 in 10 innings on Thursday behind a dominant start from Cade Horton (7 IP, 5 H, 5 K), four strikeouts from the bullpen in three innings of relief, and a walk-off sacrifice fly from Matt Shaw!
The win gave the North Siders the series sweep over Cleveland as they head into a three-game weekend set against the third place Cardinals.
Drew Pomeranz struck out two to keep his season ERA at 0.00, Ryan Brasier lowered his season ERA to 1.29, Ryan Pressly lowered his to 3.48, and Chris Flexen (0.62 ERA) pitched a scoreless 10th to pick up the win.
87 games down, 75 to go. Go Cubs go!
