The Cubs won a wild one at Wrigley today 14-9 as it was hot and the wind was blowing out.  Tyler Chatwood returned but gave up 7 runs all earned in five innings.  Every Cub batter had at least 1 hit and Jason Heyward notched his third 4 hit game this month tops on the team.  Lance Lynn will square off against Jon Lester tomorrow at 1:20 CST.

Holy cow! The Cubs returned home to Wrigley in style on Friday, coming back from 3-0 and 5-2 deficits to beat the Twins 10-6.

J-Hey, Zobrist, Schwarber, and Addy (grand slam!) homered for the North Siders.

Hey hey! The Cubs offense exploded again on Thursday as they downed the Dodgers 11-5 to secure a split of the four-game series. Addison Russell drove in four, Anthony Rizzo drove in three, Albert Almora drove in two, and J-Hey & Javy each drove in one.

The North Siders return to the Friendly Confines on Friday as they host a weekend series with the Twins.

It was a tough Wednesday night in LA -- down 6-2 early, the Cubs lost 7-5 despite 4 RBI from Willson Contreras.  

Chicago will go for a series split Thursday at Dodger Stadium before returning to the friendly confines of Wrigley Field on Friday.

Hey hey! The Comeback Cubs overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to trounce the Dodgers 9-4 in LA on Tuesday night behind a nice start from Jon Lester (5 IP, 4 K, 2 ER) and a huge night from Javy Baez (4-for-5, 2 HR, 5 RBI).

The Cubs broke it open in the top of the sixth, loading the bases after a misplay by Yasiel Puig. El Mago capitalized by cranking a grand slam to cap off the six-run inning.

The series continues Wednesday at Chavez Ravine.

Hey hey! The Cubs downed the Dodgers 4-0 on Wednesday to take the series and a share of first place in the NL Central. Jon Lester had a dominant start, tossing 7 innings of scoreless ball backed by great defense. Bryzzo each added an RBI, as did Kyle with a Schwarbomb.

J-Hey went 2-for-4 and initiated an incredible 9-2 double play. Javy Baez went 3-for-4 and had an unassisted double play. That's Cub.

The Cubs head to Cincinnati Thursday to kick off a four-game series.

Hey hey! The Comeback Cubs beat the Dodgers in 10 innings Tuesday night at Wrigley, overcoming a 1-0 deficit by tying the game in the 7th and scoring in the 10th to win 2-1. Mike Montgomery continued to shine in a starting role, notching his fourth consecutive quality start (6 IP, 1 ER, 5 K).

Kyle Schwarber's solo homer tied the game in the 7th, and Kris Bryant led off the 10th with a triple. LA intentionally walked Javier Baez, and Albert Almora drove in Bryant with a walk-off RBI single. That's Cub.

Montgomery's ERA as a starter this year dropped to 1.21, and the Cubs bullpen tossed four innings of shutout ball to secure the win.

The series wraps up on Wednesday at Wrigley.

Holy cow! The Cubs' bats came alive in St. Louis on Friday night as they trounced the Cards 13-5 behind a quality start from Jon Lester (6 IP, 3 K, 2 ER) and homers from Kris Bryant, Ian Happ, and Kyle Schwarber.

The North Siders put up a six-spot in the fifth to go up 11-1 and put the game out of reach. Albert Almora went 3-for-5 to raise his season average to .321, KB ended a homerless drought on a 2-for-4 night, Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-3, and Addy Russell had a 3-for-4 night. That's Cub.

Holy cow! The Chicago Cubs came back to down the Brewers in extras at Miller Park on Monday night to take sole possession of first place in the NL Central!

Jose Quintana tossed a quality start (6 IP, 2 ER, 3 K), and the Cubs bullpen threw five innings of shutout ball to secure the win.

It was the kind of win that great teams cobble together. Down 1-0 and 2-1, they tied it in the 8th and slammed the door in the 11th, scoring five.

All in all, it was a great team effort: quality start, shutout ball from the bullpen, clutch hitting (5-for-9 with RISP), and 7 runs scored on a night when Bryzzo, Schwarbs, Addy, and Willy combined to go 1-for-20. 

The series continues Tuesday in Milwaukee.

Hey hey! The Cubs shut out the Pirates 2-0 at Wrigley on Sunday behind a dominant start from Jon Lester (7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 5 K), who lowered his season ERA to 2.22. That's Cub.

The Cubs scored their two runs in the first, capitalizing on Kris Bryant reaching on a HBP and Jason Heyward's double to start the game. Both men scored, and Lester took over from there.

The Chicago bullpen continued its dominance with two innings of no-hit ball.

Holy cow! The Cubs held on to beat the Phillies 4-3 at Wrigley on Thursday, taking 2 out of 3 in the series and moving just a half-game back of Milwaukee for the NL Central lead.

Anthony Rizzo's tenth home run of the season set the pace for the North Siders, as he raised his season average to .253 -- up from .154 on May 1. The top of the order continued to produce for Chicago, as Albert Almora led off and went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .314 while Tommy LaStella batted second and went 1-for-2 to raise his average to .329.

The Cubs bullpen continued its dominance, throwing 4.1 innings of two-hit, one-run ball to pick up Tyler Chatwood, who lowered his season ERA to 3.86 by allowing only one earned run in 4.2 innings despite allowing seven walks.

The Pirates head to the Friendly Confines Friday to kick off a weekend series before the men in blue head north to Miller Park to face the Brewers next week.

HEY HEY J-HEY! Jason Heyward's walk-off grand slam won the game for the Cubs on Wednesday night, 7-5! Heyward's blast picked up Jose Quintana, who had a nice start (5.2 IP, 10 K, 3 H, 2 ER).

J-Hey is hitting .449 this season with the bases loaded. That's Cub.

The Brewers lost to Cleveland, and the North Siders are now just one game out of first.

SWEEP! The Cubs downed the Mets 2-0 on Sunday behind a quality start from Jon Lester (7 IP, 7 K, 2 H, 0 ER) and stellar baserunning. Javier Baez stole home in the 7th to break the scoreless tie, and Willson Contreras tagged and scored on a shallow fly to plate the North Siders' second run.

Randy Rosario (season ERA 0.00), Steve Cishek (1.73), and Brian Duensing (1.93) threw three innings of one-hit ball to preserve the shutout. That's Cub.

The Cubs have a much-needed day off on Monday before returning home to kick off a six-game homestand by hosting the Phillies on Tuesday.

Mike Montgomery had another outing in place of the injured Yu Darvish, tossing a quality start (6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 K) before turning it over to the bullpen. Chicago's relievers combined for 8 innings of shutout ball.

Albert Almora broke things open in the 14th with a two-run double. Ben Zobrist added another two-run double, and NL RBI leader Javy Baez capped off the scoring with a pinch-hit, two-run homer.

J-Hey had another big night, going 4-for-5 and raising his season average to .271. Zo's 2-for-6 night raised his average to .306 on the season. That's Cub.
