Holy cow! The first place Cubs crushed the Cardinals 11-3 on Independence Day behind a quality start from Colin Rea (6.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 K) and a team record EIGHT home runs: three from Michael Busch, two from Pete Crow-Armstrong, and one apiece from Seiya Suzuki, Carson Kelly, and Dansby Swanson.
Busch and Crow-Armstrong each had themselves a day, both going 4-for-4 and driving in a combined seven runs (Busch 5, PCA 2).
The win was the North Siders' fourth straight and kept them undefeated in the month of July.
The series continues Saturday at the Friendly Confines.
88 games down, 74 to go.
